The boat was built to accomplish the order of the Russian Romanov tsar family of building a new passenger ship with protocol purposes. The boat was built in the city of Nizhny Novgorod at the Sormovsky shipyard. After placing it on water on the 21st of May 1903 and named after Velilikij Knyaz and then Alexander Mikhailovich, the boat was serving the tsar dynasty as excursion boat traveling on the Volga, Caucasus and Mercury. The boat was present at the major events of the beginning of the 20th century. The boat was renamed in 1917 to Kharkov and it was using this given name until 1924, following it the boat was baptized to Pamjaty tovarisa Azin than Pamjaty Azin. After this there is no more data found in the Russian Naval register regarding the boat. The new owner of the boat rebuilt it to the actual shape and capacity emphasizing its historical past with the totally renovated steamboat engine, amusing its fans under the glass flooring of the Romanov coffee shop.
