The hotel is ideally located for walking the South Down's Way, visiting Glyndebourne, Eastbourne, vibrant Brighton or for taking the Newhaven-Dieppe ferry. Guests can also enjoy golf, clay-pigeon shooting and horse riding in the area. Originally built in the 13th century, the hotel was then run by the monks of Battle Abbey who offered shelter to friars and pilgrims on their way to the shrine of St Richard at Chichester.
